Premise: Cameras follow clients of the Independent Adoption Center -- pregnant women looking for a good home for their babies, and couples hoping desperately for a child. The center focuses on open adoption, in which the adoptive parents, the children, and the birth mothers establish an ongoing relationship. It's not easy, and all involved are frequently overwhelmed with emotion, but working together, they forge new bonds and create a new type of family.
