Premise of 'As Time Goes By'

You'd have to look long and hard to find an American prime time network series revolving around two senior citizens these days, so kudos to Blighty for this beautifully rendered golden age valentine to Lionel Hardcastle and Jean Pargetter, former lovers whose lives intersect again 40 years after they lose touch with one another in 1953. Lionel is now divorced and Jean is widowed with an adult daughter, Judith, who works in Jean's secretarial office. As Lionel works on his memoirs with the "assistance" of his brash agent, Alistair, he begins to rekindle his tender romance with the woman who got away all those years ago. Cheering them on is Sandy, Judith's best friend and co-worker.
