The finale of the fifth season of Beauty and the Geek was bittersweet since the show most likely won't come back, seeing how The CW didn't opt to renew it due to failing ratings. Fans of the show were disenchanted that the first few episodes tinkered with the "social experiment" formula -- instead of pairing up the beauties with the geeks to foster tolerance, this season kicked off with the beauties vying against the geeks. Not cool.
I was not at all thrilled going into this season of Beauty and the Geek mainly because of the big change.
With this first-ever Beauty and the Geek winners chosen by America, the finale also gave the booted pairs a chance to reunite and reminisce over the past season. Although I was impatient to learn whether or not Jasmine and Dave or Sam and Nicole won, I have to admit I got some good laughs while waiting.
Now, was anyone really surprised at how the winning team would be chosen on this season of Beauty and the Geek? After teasing the hell out of the new "twist," this was really the only way to go.
With communication consisting only of eyerolling, insults or all around bad vibes, mismatched Beauty & the Geek pair Jen and William prevailed last week and are among the final three teams in the mansion. This week, however, they actually had to combine forces to avoid the elimination room.
What a disparity in challenges on this Beauty & the Geek. I'm not sure that the beauty challenge really increased their smarts, but it was certainly entertaining since it gave Shay and Jasmine the heebie jeebies.
After taking a week off with a clip show, Beauty & the Geek is back to its old tricks: Sam and Nicole are targets, and William is butting heads with his partner Jen. All is right with the CW world.
Beware, evildoers. Beauty & the Geek ventures into unchartered territory, not for the faint of heart or mundanely attired. We present Comic-Con.
I'm always happy for the geek makeovers on Beauty and the Geek, but I think I was a bit disappointed in the transformational aspects this time around, with a couple of exceptions.
I hadn't been feeling Beauty & the Geek this season, what with Sam the actor as the first male beauty and Hollie's premature elimination last episode. I just haven't been having any fun or connecting with any of the characters. Well, at least the latter happened for me tonight (Oct.9).
