• 'Eli Stone': Fate can be changed, except when it can't

  The last time we saw Eli Stone, our lawyer/prophet was working his way through a breakup with an heiress and had a difficult vision about his brother's wedding. Now, as a newlywed myself, I can appreciate that there are often difficulties on the road to matrimony. But they're usually of the "our caterer didn't show up" variety, rather than a Dark Truth vision of the wedding being called off. But to each their own.

• 'Eli Stone': Fear the hormones

  So at the beginning of this week's Eli Stone, all -- well, most -- seems right with the world for our favorite modern prophet. He's happy. He's dating an heiress with a sassy streak, who's interested in, ahem, getting to know him better (and boy does she). And his vision is a hopeful one -- a woman named Jenny Clark wins the Nobel Peace Prize for her work on cold fusion, which helps wean the world from its oil dependency. But of course, there's always a catch. Or several.

• 'Eli Stone': Faith, Family -- and Seal

  I've long had my suspicions that the Beatles had a direct line to God, and this week's Eli Stone did little to disprove the notion. Specifically, it's "Help" that Eli sees Patti singing during a vision he gets when he goes to the movies with Dr. Chen. Subtle it's not, I grant you. But it gets the job done.

• 'Eli Stone': The Emancipation of J.J.

  Last week, Eli Stone won a case for Jim Cooper, a Mr. Moneybags bigwig control freak who was fighting to get his son medical marijuana to treat his MS. This week, Eli has taken up the case of Cooper's son, J.J., who's tired of being a pawn in his father's control games -- including the clinical trial that the old man got funded and brought to the hospital where Eli's brother Nate is coincidentally a neurologist.

• 'Eli Stone': You don't tug on Superman's cape...

  Oh, Eli Stone. Sometimes your determination gets the best of you. And in your rush to help out the firm, you may be getting a big old boomerang of "oh crap" to the face.

• 'Eli Stone': Breaking up is hard to do

  I didn't catch the last episode of Eli Stone, so when this week's opened with Eli in the shower with Maggie, I understandably thought I'd been dropped into an alternate universe. But given the nature of the show, I wasn't surprised when it turned out to be a vision, with Eli as Maggie's fiance, Scott. It's far from the only alternative-universe moment. The firm is splitting in two, with Martin Posner and Marcy Klein breaking off to continue their money-grubbing ways (just kidding), and Jordan and Eli going in a public interest law direction; and everyone in the firm is forced to choose sides.
