Show Summary

That homespun title notwithstanding, this poignant new drama series is set in the high-stakes world of the organ donor and cardiac care business at St. Jude Tranplant Center, where organ transplant pioneer Dr. Nathaniel Grant routinely puts his career on the line and takes chances to save the lives of his patients. If anything, his ex-wife, Kate Armstrong, has an even harder job, working as an organ donor coordinator and trying to persuade grieving families on the fence to donate the organs of their departed loved ones. Grant's heroic style is not, needless to say, embraced by his mentor, Dr. Bart Jacobs, now administrator of the hospital, but he does get support from Dr. Thomas Jonas, who has returned to St. Jude 14 years after a fellowship with Grant. Also on staff: inexperienced Dr. Simon Griffith, nurse Jessica Kivala (Grant's girlfriend) and insightful nurse Mary Singletary.
