Premise: Marriage Camp isn't a happily-ever-after vacation getaway; it's a sometimes harrowing relationship boot camp where founder Jim Carroll and director David Bishop lead couples in crisis through an intensive four-day program designed to help them find the tools they need to rebuild and maintain a healthy relationship. After a combination of interventions, drills, role playing and group exercises, the couples end each episode with an emotional ceremony in which they exchange ring boxes. If the box contains a ring, it signifies that partner is still committed to the relationship. If the box is empty, it signals that the marriage is over.
