As devastating as it was to watch -- thanks, particularly, to a wordless but powerful performance by Nichols -- this is one of our favorite "One Tree Hill" stories ever....

It's still 'One Tree Hill.' There's a little heartache, there's some hopefulness, there's some bittersweetness. There are allies you don't expect....
While it definitely feels like "One Tree Hill," it's a stronger, more confident version of the show. It's very apparent that eliminating the "we could get canceled at any moment!" factor has driven everyone involved with the production to turn it up to eleven....
We're pleased to see Brooke get the opportunity to walk down the aisle with her father, who let her down big-time on her wedding day....
Following a four-year jump in time, the 20-somethings of Tree Hill find more questions than answers as they try to keep their dreams alive and their friendships intact. Haley faces the challenges of running a busy cafe and raising two children while her husband, Nathan, spends more time on the road as an agent. Married with twins, Julian and Brooke tackle burgeoning careers, while Chase, Nathan's friend and business partner, pursues a romantic relationship with Quinn. Together this group continues to share experiences as they work towards defining what their lives will be.
We don't know yet if "One Tree Hill" had its season or series finale tonight, but either way it sure went out with a bang. Literally.
It's a good thing for "One Tree Hill" that Bethany Joy Galeotti is completely owning Haley's depression storyline, because that's basically all this show has going for it right now. Well, that and "Goonies" references.
"One Tree Hill" explores grief in this episode, as Haley sinks even deeper into depression following her mother's death.
"One Tree Hill" returns from a long hiatus, bringing its familiar blend of camp, soap and melodrama back with it.
"One Tree Hill" says goodbye to Haley's mother and hello to a second chance for Brooke and Julian in one of the best episodes the show has produced in years. YEARS!
The characters of "One Tree Hill" all tackle different aspects of moving on in this sometimes touching, sometimes maddening episode.
