Premise: The rules of the long-running reality series get a bit of a makeover as this season's 16 designers discover at the outset that this is the first teams edition of the program. Rather than competing as individuals, the contestants, who are mentored by Tim Gunn, must work together for each challenge. However, they must also ensure that their own designs shine on the runway for judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen -- so some designers may be less of a team player and worry more about their own fortunes because there is only one ultimate winner, whose prize package includes $100,000 to start his or her own line, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, and the opportunity to design and sell a collection at a national department store.
