A recent widower helps his family cope with life; the family tries to scrounge extra money for Joanie after she gets admitted to Columbia University.
Joe is a widower who puts his empty-nest years on hold when his 18-year-old daughter, Joanie, becomes pregnant. He and Joanie raise her baby with some help from Joe's son, Grant, and his bickering parents, Baxter and Lizzie.
