The successful (and extremely violent) movie franchise gets a tongue-in-cheek makeover in this TV series set in the early 21st century, where much of Delta City is virtually owned and operated by a powerful corporation, Omni Consumer Products. A key component in the company's security measures for the city is Robocop, a high-tech cyborg that incorporates the head and brain of Alex Murphy, a former cop who had been nearly killed in a shootout. Murphy's former partner, Lisa, is among the few people who knew Robocop's part-human identity. Their superior officer is Sgt. Stanley Parks, while Diana Powers, another Robocop ally, has found an extended ``life'' in the OCP's electronic communications network after her human form was killed.
