On his first day at the Daily Planet, Clark and Lois are immediately thrown together on a story when a bus explodes outside the office; Clark rescues Bette, a young girl hiding a big secret; Davis Bloome, a paramedic, is drawn to Chloe.
The Justice League heads to the Arctic to look for Clark after the collapse of the fortress; Chloe is held prisoner by a group who has discovered she has a new power; Jor-El strips Clark of his powers.
Oliver collapses and reveals he only has 24 hours to live; in his delirium, Oliver flashes back to when he first learned to use a bow and arrow, and the first time he met Tess; Chloe shocks Clark when she decides to use her powers to save Oliver.
