Premise of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'

The second "Star Trek" series, which premiered 18 years after the original ended, featured a new bigger and better starship Enterprise, and was set 78 years later in the 24th century. Instead of Captain Kirk, a less emotional and more mature Captain Jean-Luc Piccard (Patrick Stewart) headed the crew of various humans and alien creatures in their adventures in the final frontier.
