Denver family counselor Bill Pearson spends most of his days trying to settle family squabbles -- and then he has to go into work. Actually, compared to some of the dysfunctional people who parade through his office, Bill's at-home brood is pretty normal and down to earth. Susan, his wife, is a stay-at-home mom, but even so she has her hands full with teenage daughter Lauren, high school jock and video-game enthusiast Trent and their musically gifted kid brother, Bryan, a neat freak. Outside the home, Bill's two best friends share the professional building where he works: Bob Spoonerman, a podiatrist who is constantly tempting Bill into frat-boy behavior, and Paul DuFrayne, a hair-replacement specialist who is a mite jealous of what he perceives as Bill and Susan's domestic bliss.
