Harry Dresden is a private detective who operates out of a storefront in Chicago. But Harry isn't your average P.I.; he is a practicing wizard, and he solves cases using all manner of otherwordly magic. His "probation officer" of sorts is Morgan, a warden from the High Council -- the governing body that supervises wizards. Also keeping close tabs on Dresden is Chicago Police Lt. Connie Murphy, who can't figure out why Dresden is so successful. At home, our hero is pestered by a wizard ghost named Bob, who wants nothing more than to escape the confines of Dresden's apartment and enjoy a walk in the park.
